giving talks

October 21, 2010 Leave a comment Go to comments

You don’t have to be prepared with the ready answers when you accept to give a talk on a particular subject.

If someone came up to you and asked you to giveĀ  atalk on somethign related to your field of expertise, would you instantly agree because you know what you are going to say? Chances are, you don’t know what you will say exactly. A lot of people seem to get scared and chicken out.

In stead, I believe it is better to look at this as an opportunity to explore something deeper and give your perspective to your audience. You don’t have to know everything the day they ask you to give a talk. Read, learn, prepare, so the day you are standing up in front of your listeners, you know what you will teach them.
